Meet our new Sacramental Preparation Coordinator!
Nick Murphy currently serves as the Faith Permeation and Religious Education Consultant for Fort McMurray Catholic school division and assisted by Karen Deyan in the delivery of sacramental preparation last year.
Nick moved to Fort McMurray in August 2020 with his wife Rebecca and together they have two daughters Philippa and Rosalie.
Nick is originally from England and completed his teacher’s degree at Edge Hill University.
He moved to Toronto in 2016 and completed a Master’s degree in Religious Education at the University of St. Michael’s College. While studying, he served as a chaplain in SickKids Children’s Hospital and volunteered with the University’s student life and liturgy team.
After teaching at the Elementary level with FMCSD for two years, he took on his new role supporting teachers with faith permeation. He is excited to be adding this new challenge of supporting our students in their sacramental journeys.
Nick’s primary responsibility as Sacramental Preparation Coordinator is to prepare children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. The Sacramental Preparation Coordinator’s role is essential in guiding and supporting children through their sacramental journey, fostering spiritual growth, and promoting meaningful participation in the Sacraments.
